192 West Hendrickson, or just Hendrickson as we call it, has been a part of our family for over ten years. When we first saw this house it was in disrepair, yet we could see the awesome bones it had. We loved that it was a classic American Foursquare, that many of the original moldings and arches were intact, and the way the light poured in the bow windows in the mid-afternoon sold us.Over the years, we spent so much time both restoring this house and modernizing this house for the future. Downstairs, we did an extensive renovation of the large eat-in kitchen with new floors, cabinets, countertops, and finally new stainless-steel appliances. Last summer, we also completed carious aesthetic upgrades to the laundry room. The laundry room is large enough both for storage and to be a great mud room, with room for a bench to take off shoes and hooks to hang coats in the winter. In the open living room and dining room we had new wide-plank hardwood floors installed to mimic the charming features of the house.Upstairs, this home is filled with light. The bathroom has been updated, and all three bedrooms have original millwork, glass door knobs, and high-quality Berber carpeting that was installed last summer. There are hardwoods beneath the carpeting that could be refinished in the future. The center bedroom, one of our favorite rooms in the house, has a wall of built-in bookshelves adding to the extensive charm of this home. On the third floor, the attic provides the opportunity for storage, a huge-walk in closet, den, office, playroom, or even a fourth bedroom! In addition to the interior upgrades, a new shed in the fenced-in yard was installed last fall.
