155 Washington Street
Description of Property at
155 Washington Street
Circa 1924, this masonry cottage constructed with hollow tile, has presided from it's lakeside perch for many years. Recent storms have not been kind and house and detached garage have had water intrusion twice (2016 and 2017) with two remediations but no real restoration. In need of love, attention and an infusion of cash to replace the elderly roof, make needed post-storm repairs and embark on an interior renovation to make it a home again while also exploring some future resiliency measures. The location has always been desirable and coveted as there is no street between the house and Lake Maria Sanchez, only a sidewalk where you'll find neighbors walking their dogs. Views across the water take in the south end of our residential Historic District and the daily bird show is always worth watching. As the city grows, this southern end has retained a measure of quiet outside of the hustle bustle of tour trains and other people-moving vehicles that shuttle visitors through town. This is a big project but worth considering. The small den on the northeast corner is a later addition and of frame construction so rebuilding it with some form of masonry materials is recommended.
