Description of Property at
255 PIM STREET
4300 SQ FEET - ONE OF A KIND HERITAGE HOME - BUILT IN 1912 The home was built in 1912 for the President of Algoma Steel. It has had only a few owners since. When it was purchased, the entire interior was completely stripped down to the bare wood studs, so that the complete electrical, heat, ventilation and plumbing system could be changed to new. At that time, the walls were insulated and yield a higher degree of insulation than most modern homes, as the studs are a full 6 deep, rather than modern day 2x6s which are only just over 5, thus allowing almost an extra inch of insulation between the walls. All the windows (56 in total) were replaced with new high efficiency, low-e argon filled units, replicating the style of the originals. All new plumbing fixtures, purchased from Gingers of Toronto at over $1000 each, of a design that suited the period, were installed in new cabinetry either by Cameo of Toronto, or Architectural Hardware, of Chicago.
